Ideas Into Impact.

Exploring sustainability through research, entrepreneurship and real-world initiatives.

ABOUT

Building at the intersection of energy, economics and environmental research.

I am an IB Diploma student at Jayshree Periwal International School, focused on renewable energy, economics, entrepreneurship and evidence-led sustainability work.

DS

Student Entrepreneur. Environmental Researcher. Clean Energy Advocate.

I am interested in climate work that moves beyond awareness: research that explains a problem clearly, ventures that test practical models and initiatives that connect with real communities.

Through Sunvayu Analytics, I explore renewable-energy ownership as something more accessible and community-oriented. The venture has raised approximately $2,500-$3,000, and its blog gives me a place to write about clean energy, sustainability and environmental challenges.

My independent research looks at AI, satellite imagery, biodiversity conservation and rooftop-solar policy. I am also developing Clean Energy Equity Lab and have participated in an environmental impact initiative in Nagaland involving engagement with the Chief Minister's office.

FEATURED VENTURE

Sunvayu Analytics

My flagship renewable-energy venture, built around accessible clean-energy ownership, sustainability writing and early venture development.

Renewable Energy / Entrepreneurship

Making renewable ownership feel less exclusive.

Sunvayu Analytics is the venture where I bring together clean-energy research, business thinking and public-facing sustainability writing. Its mission is to make renewable energy feel more accessible, shared and understandable.

The project has raised approximately $2,500-$3,000 in early funding and is supported by the Sunvayu Analytics blog, where I publish writing on renewable energy, environmental challenges and clean-energy access.

RESEARCH

Independent research with clear scope and evidence.

Two research projects connecting environmental data, policy design and clean-energy adoption.

AI / Remote Sensing / Conservation

Predicting Urban Biodiversity Loss Using Deep Learning on Satellite Imagery

Abstract: An independent research project exploring whether convolutional neural networks trained on multispectral satellite data can forecast biodiversity risk in urban green spaces.

Objective: Test whether satellite imagery and deep-learning models can help identify urban biodiversity risk early enough to guide conservation decisions.

  • The paper examines Singapore, Sao Paulo and Nairobi as study areas.
  • Preliminary Singapore subset results report R2 values of 0.71 for 12-month bird richness prediction and 0.64 for plant richness prediction.
  • The paper identifies fragmentation velocity, patch-shape complexity and vegetation-index trends as important signals.
  • Limitations include uneven citizen-science biodiversity reporting and the need for validation before conservation deployment.
CNNsSentinel-2GBIFeBirdUrban biodiversity
Methodology
  • Uses multispectral satellite imagery and biodiversity observations from public datasets.
  • Frames the work around city-level case studies in Singapore, Sao Paulo and Nairobi.
  • Explores CNN-based prediction of future bird and plant richness signals.
Limitations
  • Citizen-science biodiversity observations are uneven across regions and species.
  • The results require more validation before they can support conservation deployment.
  • The reported Singapore subset is preliminary and should be read with that scope in mind.

How Effective Are Indian Rooftop-Solar Subsidies in Increasing Household Adoption?

Abstract: A mixed-method research paper using evidence available up to December 2024 to assess rooftop-solar subsidies, affordability barriers and state-level adoption differences in India.

Objective: Evaluate how effectively rooftop-solar subsidies support household adoption, and where affordability, financing and implementation barriers remain.

  • The paper reports 3,138.94 MW of residential rooftop capacity installed with CFA by 31 October 2024.
  • PM-Surya Ghar had produced approximately 6.3 lakh installations by December 2024.
  • Adoption was highly concentrated, with Gujarat accounting for a particularly large share of subsidised residential capacity.
  • The paper concludes that subsidies help, but finance, installers, roofs, net-metering and DISCOM performance also shape adoption.
PM-Surya GharCFADISCOMsAffordabilityPolicy
Methodology
  • Uses evidence available up to December 2024.
  • Compares policy design, residential rooftop capacity data and state-level adoption differences.
  • Examines affordability, installer access, rooftop constraints, financing and implementation bottlenecks.
Limitations
  • The analysis is limited to evidence available by December 2024.
  • State-level adoption patterns are shaped by factors beyond subsidies alone.
  • Household-level survey work would be needed to deepen conclusions about affordability and access.

CLEAN ENERGY EQUITY LAB

A focused look at who can actually access clean energy.

An in-development initiative connected to my rooftop-solar research, organized around research, analysis, solutions and recommendations.

01

Research

Completed foundation / planned fieldwork

Connected to the completed rooftop-solar subsidy paper, with household research and stakeholder interviews planned for deeper evidence.

02

Analysis

Planned

Compare costs, subsidies, financing requirements and estimated payback periods across income groups.

03

Solutions

Planned

Explore practical models such as community solar, microfinancing, shared ownership and pay-as-you-save financing.

04

Recommendations

Planned

Develop clear policy recommendations after research findings are available and documented.

Research connection

Built from the rooftop-solar subsidy paper.

The lab builds on the completed rooftop-solar subsidy paper, especially its findings on affordability, state-level differences, financing barriers and access.
